What's your most favorite software?
Yes it is a weird question to ask someone, I know! :D
Nevertheless, I personally have a clear winner for myself: it's Linear. The project management tool we're started using in Prezly a few years ago.
Previously, throughout the years we've tried all major project management products: Redmine, Trello, Basecamp, Shortcut (foremerly Clubhouse), GitHub Issues and projects, Asana, Jira. They're all good in their own ways (except Jira; Jira is just terrible!). But they all were always "almost there", and never quite perfect. You know what I mean, right?
Until we've tried Linear.
Boy, it was love from the first sight (or rather the first usage session 😄). Linear was pretty much similar to Trello, or Clubhouse, - in its nature it's a classical tasks/tickets database with Kanban. But the execution makes it stellar.
Everything I ever wanted was there:
- best in class notifications inbox;
- great search and filtering functionality;
- all kinds of ways to organize work: initiatives, projects, tickets, relations between them, updates;
- very good text editor for writing documents and comments too!
- reminders - you can snooze a notification or set an alarm on a ticket to get back to it later;
- and my personal favorite feature, which I've been missing in all other tools I've tried before, - infinitely nested tasks. A ticket can be a sub-task of another ticket, which is a sub-task of another ticket, and so on and on with no limit;
- and did I mention the UI is blazing fast?! It is fast!
I even use Linear as my personal organizer - I have a separate workspace where I write down my own errands and goals, set reminders 🫶, and also use it as a board to collect my ideas.
* for the record: I am not affiliated with Linear, nor am I incentivized in any way for promoting it. I just genuinely love it!
And you, what's your favorite piece of software?
